The Penny Test
Few of us are aware of when we should replace our car tires. You should check the depth of the tire treads on a regular basis to avoid them becoming easily punctured and leaving you stranded in the middle of nowhere. But how exactly can you tell whether the treads are still good or not?
Here’s a simple test: place a penny into a tread with the top of Lincoln’s head pointing down toward the tire. Your tires don’t need to be changed as long as the tread covers Lincoln’s brow. If not, have them replaced as soon as possible. If you have lots of money on hand, use a quarter instead of a penny.
