How to Increase Traction
We don’t have to tell you that icy roads are dangerous. The slippery surface of black ice can reduce your car tires’ traction, making it difficult to stop or turn your car. But having some extra weight in the back of your trunk can help you stay safe.

Put a few bags of sand or compost in your trunk to provide some weight. It will improve the grip of your tires gain, but keep in mind that this may not work as effectively for front-wheel-drive vehicles. Alternatively, you can keep bags of kitty litter in the back. Cat litter works great at melting snow and getting you out of snow mounds.
