As the present problems caused by the Islamic insurgence continues, an All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, the former head of state Major-general Muhammadu Buhari, has come out open to say that the country would not know peace until PDP is voted out of power.
He made the statement while meeting with APC delegates from south-south region in Asaba Delta state. If the present leadership remains in power, we would continue to sleep with our eyes open
Muhammadu Buhari, has said the country may be overrun by the dreaded Boko Haram sect, armed robbers and kidnappers in the next four years, should the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) be allowed to continue in power.
Buhari, also said that the country no longer need PDP at all levels because it has completely destroyed the economy and the security of the nation, and at such, the party needs to be voted out of power.
He even recalled his statements some 30yrs back when he said that: “we have no other country but Nigeria and should work hard to maintain it’s unity.
He urged Nigerians to do away with ethnicity or religious sentiments and vote the right person to power.
Another presidential aspirant on the same platform, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, earlier on relieved his role in frustrating the third term term bid of the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo while in office. He told APC delegates from Asaba recently that he sacrificed his life to stop it, he maintained that if he had not stopped the bid, that the government would still be in power till date.
Reacting to the statements of Buhari, the national publicity secretary of PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, in a statement said that it was unfortunate to be hearing that type of utterances from a respected elderly statesman of his caliber. He said that president Goodluck is working really hard to bring the the insurgency under control before the end of the year. “We don’t think Buhari is the spokesman of the Boko Haram. Even if this is his intention, he is not God”.
“Nigeria is in the hands of God. God will shape our future.
“Who do we believe? Do we believe a president who has been elected to take action or do we believe man, who, instead of focusing on his effort to run at his own convention, he is dabbling into stirring people or trying to promote the activities of the insurgents.
“If, indeed, he is promoting the activities of the insurgents, then, we can advise him to wait for whichever country that those people create and be president of that nation.
“But for this country to move forward and for the interest of the nation, what he is saying is completely at variance with a statesman and we should not expect that at this stage of our national development, in this fragile moment of our development, that a highly-placed statesman can make such statements or be promoting the insurgents.”
