Cornish Pasty
The British sure do love their pies and pastries! The Cornish pasty is a baked pastry that is filled with delicious ground beef, onions, diced potatoes, salt, and lots of pepper. It originated with Cornish tin miners who usually didn’t get a chance to return to the surface at lunchtime.

Because their hands would get dirty after a morning of hard work, they needed something that could be held easily and that would still be hearty. The Cornish pasty is now extremely popular all across the UK. To be considered authentic, it is said that the proportion should be about 12.5% beef and 25% vegetables. Sounds good to us!
