55 Weird British Food Quirks the Rest of the World Can’t Wrap Their Heads Around

May 19, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Deep-Fried Mars Bar

Some dishes can’t even pretend to be healthy no matter how hard they try. A deep-fried Mars bar is one such thing. The Brits are masters of the art of covering food in batter and deep-frying them, although this novelty dish was first made at a chip shop in Scotland.

If you’re wondering what it entails – it’s pretty much in the name. All you need is a Mars bar in all its caramel and nougaty goodness, batter, and a fryer. The chocolate bar is chilled a little before frying so that it doesn’t melt too much. It sounds like a strange combination but something tells us it will work.
