Crumble and Custard
Crumble may not be unique to this part of the world but what is interesting is how the British eat it. These are usually made with flour, butter, sugar, and fruits like apples, plums, rhubarb, and blackberries and are almost always eaten with a delicious homemade custard, fresh cream, or ice cream.
There are also savory crumbles but the sweet ones are more loved. Apparently, they became popular during World War II when crumble toppings were a more economical alternative to pies because pastry ingredients were not easily available. It is a simple, hearty, and warming dessert that you just can’t get enough of.
