Scones With Clotted Cream and Jam

It doesn’t get more English than “Scones with clotted cream and jam.” This delightful tea-time snack has three elements to it. You have your scones – a kind of bread that is similar to what the Americans call “biscuit.” They are made of wheat, oatmeal, or barley and could have currants, raisins, or dates in them.

The best way to serve them is with clotted cream and jam, of course. Clotted cream is a thick cream that is made from full-cream cow’s milk using a water bath. As it cools down, it forms these delicious clots that are just a little bit solid on the top. In case you’re wondering, it’s jam first and then the cream!
