Butter Pie
Butter pies sound like something that could right every wrong in the world and after reading the description, we’re sure they can. Originally from Lancashire in North West England, these pies have a potato and onion filling and oodles of butter of course.
They are also known as Catholic pies or Friday pies as they were eaten by workers from the Lancashire Catholic community on Fridays when meat wasn’t allowed to be consumed. It also comes up in the Paul and Linda McCartney song, “Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey” where the lyrics go like, “I had another look and I had a cup of tea and butter pie”.
