55 Weird British Food Quirks the Rest of the World Can’t Wrap Their Heads Around

May 19, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Sausage Roll

Touted as the best cure for a hangover and a splendid snack for those on a budget, takeaway sausage rolls can be found everywhere in the UK. A sausage roll is essentially a pork sausage covered in a flaky puff pastry and baked to perfection. Sometimes, you may even come across a beef sausage version.

Eat it piping hot and with brown sauce or ketchup. The most well-known ones are from Gregg’s, a local bakery chain but you can grab them from almost any patisserie, cafe, or supermarket. They’re oh-so-good and convenient to grab any time you have a hunger pang.
