55 Weird British Food Quirks the Rest of the World Can’t Wrap Their Heads Around

May 19, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Iced Buns

The Americans have their donuts while the British have their own nostalgic baked goods – the iced bun. Essentially, these are regular hot-dog buns with white sugar glazing on top. While this is the most traditional version, you can also find ones with pink glazing, toppings like sprinkles, and some that are filled with a jam filling or lemon curd.

You can eat the traditional ones as they are or split and butter the buns before gorging on them. They make a great tea-time snack, although they hit the spot at any time of the day, and can be found in bakeries and supermarkets all over.
