The Brits are known for a lot of great things like Shakespeare, the Royal family, beer, Harry Potter, and for having one of the best-sounding accents in the world. What they aren’t known for, however, is their cuisine. Most of their dishes seem to be bland, carb-heavy and have all sorts of strange names. Take a look at these positively weird British food quirks that the rest of the world can’t wrap their heads around.

Boiled Eggs and Soldiers
Eggs are probably the most commonly eaten breakfast food around the world and it’s no different in Britain. They love their eggs in any shape or form, be it fried, scrambled, poached, or even boiled. Many British actually possess egg cups that are used to hold and serve their boiled eggs. So, what exactly are boiled eggs and soldiers?

It’s basically a soft-boiled egg in an egg cup accompanied with sticks of buttered toast. You dip the toast into the runny yolk and enjoy the gooey goodness. Why are they called soldiers? Frankly, we have no idea. What we do know is that it is a popular children’s breakfast but adults love it too!
