#6: Bedřich Hrozný – Hittite Language
Bedřich Hrozný was a Czech linguist and archaeologist who worked with clay tablets written in an unfamiliar cuneiform script. In 1915, while studying fragments from the Hittite Empire, he recognized familiar word patterns that linked the unknown language to Indo-European roots. This discovery proved that Hittite belonged to one of the oldest known language families. His conclusion changed how scholars understood ancient Anatolia and its connections to Europe and the Near East.
