RadioShack was founded in 1921 and used to be THE place for electronics. But at the turn of the 21st century, stiffer competition and failure to adapt to the changing times didn’t help the business. They tried everything. They tried being a cell phone outlet, and that didn’t work. They rebranded as “The Shack” in 2009, but that made it lose all identity.

In the mid-2010s, they closed down most stores around the country and decided to focus on online shopping. There are still brick-and-mortar locations, particularly international, but no signs of a full comeback just yet.
