#24: Nick Gilder – “Hot Child in the City” (1978)

Canadian-American singer Nick Gilder was a member of the Canadian rock band Sweeney Todd, but “Hot Child in the City,” released in June 1978, was his first hit as a solo artist. The song is based on Gilder’s not-so-innocent experiences in Los Angeles and the things he witnessed there, but the song itself was catchy and innocent enough to become an immediate hit in both the US and Canada.
