#12: King Harvest – “Dancing in the Moonlight” (1972)

“Dancing in the Moonlight” marked King Harvest’s fleeting moment of fame. Originating from Wells Kelly’s brother, it fizzled quickly after release. The band unfortunately disbanded within six months, leaving their potential untapped. The tides changed when Perception Records acquired and globally re-launched the song. By 1972, it soared to No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming a defining moment for King Harvest, whose later attempts at singles never replicated this success.
