#16: Buddy
Morris Frank lost his sight as a young man and was determined to find a way to move through the world on his own terms. In 1928, he traveled to Switzerland to meet Dorothy Harrison Eustis, a trainer of German Shepherds for police work. Eustis prepared a remarkable dog named Buddy to become Frank’s guide. Back in New York City, Buddy expertly led Frank through hectic traffic and swarms of reporters, wowing the public and proving what was possible. Their powerful demonstration sparked the creation of the Seeing Eye organization in America.
