#10: Jofi
The famous Austrian psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud received a Chow Chow named Jofi as a gift from his daughter Anna in the late 1920s. Freud kept the dog in his study during private therapy sessions with his patients. He noticed that individuals talked more openly about their problems when the dog sat nearby. Jofi possessed an accurate internal clock and always stood up exactly 60 minutes into a session, which signaled to Freud that the appointment time concluded. This practice helped lay the groundwork for modern animal-assisted therapy.
