#14: Not Saving for Retirement
In line with the American debt issue, 20% of Americans aged 50 and up don’t have any retirement savings whatsoever. The savings problem is so significant that roughly one in four Americans don’t believe they’ll ever be able to retire. More than that, over 55% of Americans don’t have a financial plan for retirement. It’s estimated that the average American should have at least $1 million in their retirement accounts/investments to retire comfortably.
