In 1934, as the ceremony unfolded, presenter Will Rogers made a blunder that would go down in Oscars history. With a casual “Come up and get it, Frank,” he inadvertently sent Frank Capra, nominated for Lady For A Day, scrambling to the stage.

The only issue was the award belonged to another Frank—Frank Lloyd, the director of Cavalcade. Capra later recounted the embarrassing mix-up in his autobiography, humorously referring to himself as a “big stupido.”
