We might think that we have seen every animal in the world, but then, others will appear that will look so much like a creature in some fantasy movie, not real life. From those living out in the vacuum of space to those that can regenerate lost body parts, these incredible little beasties really hammer home how awfully creative evolution is.
#1: Tardigrade – The Space Survivor
The tardigrade, also known as the “water bear,” is almost impossible to kill. These tiny creatures can survive being boiled, frozen, crushed, and even exposed to the vacuum of outer space. They do this by entering a dried-out state called cryptobiosis, where their metabolism nearly stops.
Scientists have even revived tardigrades after years of dormancy, proving they might just be Earth’s toughest survivors.
