Salvador Dali Kisses Raquel Welch’s Hand After Finishing Her Portrait, 1965
This incredible special piece was painted by the famous Spanish surrealist painter Dalí as part of the promotional work for Richard Fleischer’s Fantastic Voyage movie, starring American actress and singer Raquel Welch and Stephen Boyd.
The painting was made in the window of the National Cash Register showroom at Madison Avenue and 61st St, New York, on 9 February 1965. At the time, this was a very controversial and innovative way to celebrate the release of a new movie. Even today the thought of associating such a celebrated artist to a mere movie seems in bad taste.
