Davy Crocket
An American folk hero, Davy Crockett was a frontiersman, soldier, politician, congressman and storyteller. He was known as the “King of the Wild Frontier.” He fought in the war of 1812 and took up underdog causes. He lost his business in a flood and died at the Alamo. He was immortalized in books, plays and on television, thanks to Walt Disney.
Many kids remember begging for a racoon hat so they could be like Davy Crockett. And, of course, “he patched up the crack in the liberty bell.”
