Abraham Lincoln
He championed us through the Civil War and he signed the Emancipation Proclamation, which guaranteed freedom to every American. During his service to America his attitude about equality got him into more trouble than he would ever know. Soon after his speech in 1865 calling for Black Americans to receive the right to vote, Lincoln was shot in Ford’s Theatre and died the next morning.
Lincoln was the first president to fall victim to an assassin. “Now he belongs to the ages.”
