What makes a hero? Are you born this way? Maybe a hero is one who helps his fellow person. Or is it the one who spreads a fighting spirit across the country with his words and actions? It’s an ongoing discussion. What is certain, American history is riddled with men and women, each with his own part, who shaped the American we know today. In times of war, struggle, peace, hardship, and plenty, they always showed up at the right moment to steer history the other way. In this list, we acknowledge the ones we think should be recognized by all. Who do you think is missing?
George Washington
This war hero was responsible for lots of firsts. He was unanimously elected the first president of the United States twice. He was the first president to sign the Constitution. George Washington was the first of many heroes with the name of George. The first time he traveled outside the USA, he contracted smallpox and beat it.
This first gave him an edge over the epidemic in 1781, so he was able to march on Yorktown, Virginia, and win the Revolutionary War.
