Celebrity-owned restaurants also grew popular in the ’90s, with country musician Kenny Rogers opening Kenny Rogers Roasters in 1991. The restaurant served wood-fired rotisserie chicken, which sounds delicious. How did it fail? Well, there were too many chicken places in the U.S., and Nathan’s Famous bought them out. You can find Kenny Rogers Roasters chicken at Nathan’s locations, such as their Coney Island location.

While Kenny Rogers Roasters closed its last US location in 2011, the chain has been very successful in Asia. There are a whopping 156 locations in different Asian countries, so if you’re traveling abroad, you can find one pretty easily.
