#16: Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour
Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour was founded in 1963 and brought back the nostalgia of ice cream parlors found early in the century. They even had self-playing pianos to class up the place without paying an actual pianist.

They gained success and were soon bought by Mariott, but the gimmick ran thin like a bad milkshake. Mariott sold the chain in 1982, and by 1990, it was hard to find a location. Surprisingly, a few independently run locations had longer success, but by 2019, there wasn’t a Farrell’s to be seen. I dedicate my next ice cream binge to them.
