Junkanoo, Bahamas
In Nassau, Bahamas, The Bahamas Junkanoo is held every year. This is a four-day carnival celebration that is centered around Bahamian culture and traditions. Visitors from all over the world travel to the Bahamas to participate in Junkanoo which is considered to be the ultimate celebration of everything Bahamian.
Its focus is on enjoying life while embracing your heritage. It is a representation of the people, their culture, music, and food of the Bahamian culture. This event dates back to the seventeenth century and is named after John Canoe, a tribal chief that demanded that his people be given the right to celebrate the traditions of their culture. It starts around two in the morning and lasts until ten in the morning.
