#9: “Tainted Love”
No matter what, there are some songs that everyone has come to know one way or another. Whether they chose to ever listen to this particular song or it was forced upon them in films or television shows, there is no getting around pop culture sometimes. But what happens when the song you always thought was so original was a cover all along?

Just hearing the words “Tainted Love” automatically makes your brain start singing the song; that’s how well-known it is. Well, something you might not know is that this music sensation of a hit wasn’t written by the band Soft Cell. It was an original song by African American singer Gloria Jones released in 1964. In 1981, the song was slowed down a little and became Soft Cell’s greatest hit.
