William Dorsey Swann, otherwise known as the “Queen of Drag,” essentially started the drag movement in the United States. He threw secret parties and invited all of his friends and loved ones to participate in drag with him. Being one of the first people to ever be arrested for impersonating a woman in the U.S., Dorsey was a trailblazer.
