#6: William H. Richardson – Child’s Carriage
There are so many inventions that we take for granted in the world today. Whilst these things might seem obvious to us today when they were first created, they answered the serious needs of the public all over the world. Even though it might seem redundant, learning about the origins of these inventions can be enlightening.
Whilst baby carriages had existed in the world by the year 1899, none were manufactured quite like this one… African American inventor William H. Richardson created a child’s carriage that allowed the bassinet to face the person driving the stroller. It was the first reversible baby carriage with independent wheels, which meant the stroller could turn 360 degrees in a smaller radius.
