#17: Hidden Figures
Throughout history, there have been many cases of people being denied credit for their great achievements due to the color of their skin, their sexual orientation, and their religion. Every single person on this earth has something great to give, so why stunt anyone’s growth over something so insignificant to life’s purpose?
The 2017 film Hidden Figures follows the story of three African American women, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, and Dorothy Vaughan. These three women were chosen to be human computers in attempting NASA to get one particular astronaut to be the first to orbit the earth. They achieved this great accomplishment in 1962. However, they weren’t celebrated like other people might have been at the time.
