These Small Acts of Revenge Are Oddly Satisfying

May 19, 2017 by Rebecca Rand

Care for a sandwich?

The girl in the photo is Jade Hameister, and she broke an incredible record. At 14, she became the youngest woman in history to complete the polar hat-trick track – crossing the North Pole, the Greenland ice sheet and the South Pole on skis. The inspiring girl gave a Ted talk about her journey and accomplishment, and she received some discouraging feedback.

Commenting on her Ted talk, men replied with, “make me a sandwich,” because women belong in the kitchen. As a personal revenge, she made the journey back to the North Pole, and published the message that she went back there only “to take this photo for all those men who commented ‘Make me a sandwich’ on my Tedx Talk. I made you a sandwich (ham & cheese), now ski 37 days and 600km to the South Pole and you can eat it.”
