It was mass exodus on Sunday as more than 4,000 members of the PDP in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State defected to the APC in readiness for the coming elections.
Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of APC warmly welcomed the decamping PDP members into the part’s fold with promises of complete changes and new experience.
Wamakko, who was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Arzika Tureta, commended them for their action.
“APC is the party to beat across Nigeria during the 2015 general elections,’’ he said.
Wamakko also assured the new entrants of equal opportunities in APC while he promised them fair treatment with the older members of the party.
The governor said APC was out to salvage Nigeria and expressed optimism that it would win the 2015 general elections at all levels.
The party’s Acting State Chairman, Alhaji Usman Danmadamin-Isa, commended Wamakko for evenly transforming the state from 2007 to date.
“More people will soon join the APC and we will collectively work to ensure the success of the party at all levels during the forthcoming general polls,’’ he said.
Speaking also, Alhaji Umar Wali, the Caretaker Chairman of the local government, said the new members were drawn from the 10 electoral wards of the local government area.
A spokesman of the former PDP members , Alhaji Umar Suleiman, said their action was spurred by the tremendous achievements of Wamakko from 2007 to date, adding that actions speaks louder than words.
