Mother’s Day is coming up, and given the current situation we are in now, the safest place to celebrate is at home, and what mother wouldn’t like some Netflix and (literally) chill? So, if you’re looking for fun things to do while at home to celebrate this special date, why not enjoy a marathon of Mother’s Day movies? Even if your mom is not around, you could both set up a virtual date and watch some of these movies together, virtually. The movies are on us, the snacks are on you.
Mamma Mia!
If you haven’t watched it yet, now is the time! And thank us later. This movie has it all: romance, drama, a view of a gorgeous Greek island, great music (which includes Meryl Streep singing and dancing to classic ABBA tunes), comedy, and, of course, mothers and daughters. Meryl Streep’s character is the mother of the bride, who wishes to meet her birth father and for him to walk her down the aisle, so she invites three possible candidates from her mother’s past hoping one of them is her father. Could you imagine three of your exes attending your daughter’s special day? If you enjoy musicals, watch the movie and enjoy Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard singing along with Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried.
Stepmom
If you g with this movie, remember to have a box of tissues handy, as it is a tear-jerking one. As we all know, motherhood is no joke, it is complicated, and this movie portrays highest and lowest sides of motherhood. In this drama-comedy, Jackie (Susan Sarandon) is a dying mother who has no other choice but to accept her husband’s new lover, Isabel (Julia Roberts), a much younger woman and soon-to-be stepmother of Jackie’s two children. Be ready to watch how a contentious relationship between two women becomes a beautiful example of how, despite their differences and conflicts, they learn to work together for the sake of the family.
Life as We Know It
Katherine Heigl (Grey’s Anatomy) and Josh Duhamel (Transformers)are a perfect combination on screen. After a disastrous first date, encouraged by their two best friends, this pair realizes that they could never be together, as they are too different from each other and really, the only thing they have in common is the great love they have for their goddaughter, Sophie. After one tragic night, both suddenly become guardians of their best friend’s baby, Sophie, and they don’t have any choice but to accept it, as they are all the little girl has left in this world. So, despite their differences, they will have to team up to raise Sophie, which, naturally, involves moving in together and learning how to become parents.
Mother’s day
Okay, so this one sounds obvious, but is there a more fitting movie for mother’s day than, well, Mother’s Day? It’s right in the title. If you are fan of those holiday-themed movies, then this one is definitely for you. This romantic comedy follows the lives of four families, which includes four moms dealing with personal issues in different aspects of their lives. The movie is following four different mothers, a stressed-out single mom, a fitness freak, a business woman and a widower. If you love Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Jason Sudeikis, you can’t go wrong with this movie.
