#5: Full House – Danny Tanner (1987)
The Tanner household presents a different kind of financial puzzle because its extravagance comes from sheer size rather than luxury shopping. Danny Tanner owns a beautiful Victorian home in San Francisco while raising three daughters, and the household eventually accommodates Joey and Jesse as well. San Francisco housing was already expensive during the show’s run, and maintaining a large property while supporting several children would have required considerable income even before the city’s later real-estate explosion. Danny does have a respectable career, first as a sportscaster and later as a television host on Wake Up, San Francisco, which presumably improves his earnings. Jesse and Joey also work at various points, although their professional situations can be inconsistent enough that their contributions are difficult to calculate. The show rarely spends much time discussing mortgages, utilities, childcare costs, groceries, or the economics of keeping so many people under one roof.
