#4: Frasier – Frasier Crane (1993)
Frasier Crane’s spectacular Seattle apartment, expensive furniture, tailored clothing, fine wine, opera tickets, upscale restaurants, and extensive art collection suggest the finances of someone considerably wealthier than the average radio employee. Frasier is certainly not struggling: he is an established psychiatrist who becomes a prominent radio personality, and the show repeatedly establishes that he has sophisticated and expensive tastes. His previous medical career could also have provided substantial savings before he returned to Seattle. Even so, his lifestyle frequently approaches a level of luxury that seems ambitious for a local radio host, particularly when combined with the amount he spends on entertainment and collecting. His brother Niles makes the contrast even funnier, since Niles enjoys an even more extravagant lifestyle partly through his marriage to the enormously wealthy Maris. Frasier occasionally uses money as a source of comedy, but financial pressure almost never meaningfully disrupts Frasier’s routines.
