Showgirl theaters were a major attraction of the city at the time. It was originally planned to entertain the Hoover Dam construction workers, but ended up attracting many out of state visitors to the city.

Showgirl acts were introduced in Las Vegas in 1941 by the famous El Rancho Vegas hotel. Later, they became a must-have in almost all hotels and casinos.
