Some Nurses Prefer Not to Work With Doulas
What’s a doula, you ask? They are birth coaches or post-birth supporters who guide couples and support them through the life-changing experience of having a baby. Some couples may find the idea of having a doula comforting but labor nurses don’t always like them simply because they can’t perform clinical tasks or provide medical care.

Although they mean well, they could get in the way, especially if something were to go wrong. There are plenty of people in the labor room as is and one more person means added stress to the already stressful situation.
