Nurses Need to Be Careful Before They Speak
Nurses need to be careful about what they say out loud. A nurse and her aide were caring for newborn babies and were used to talking in shortened sentences with each other. While referring to a particular baby who was undergoing photo light therapy, the nurse realized that her body temperature was high and asked the aide if they should kill the lights off. The aide agreed that they should “kill it off”.
The nurse responded, “you better be sure. This is not going to be easy. She’s gonna cry hard!” Only later did they realize that a relative was standing close and looked positively horrified upon hearing their conversation. They had to go on to explain that they were just talking about killing the photo light machine and not an actual baby. Yikes!
