Pictures from Classic McDonald’s Restaurants from the 80s and 90s

December 6, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Mac Tonight

Ronald McDonald was the restaurant’s mascot that appealed to and creeped kids everywhere. But when the sun set, Ronald would go to bed, and his nighttime counterpart, Mac Tonight, would make his appearance. This mascot was created to increase dinnertime sales in California, but his popularity made him a nationwide mascot in 1987.

We don’t recall much about Mac Tonight since his commercials aired after our bedtimes. However, we couldn’t be happier. Mac Tonight looks even creepier than Ronald, and he would only appear at nighttime. He was discontinued in 1989 following a lawsuit by Bobby Darin’s estate but made a reappearance in Southeast Asia in 28 years later.
