McDonald’s sold pizza at one point
Not many people remember whenn McDonald’s tried to get into the pizza business. During the 1980s, pizza franchises like Domino’s and Pizza Hut were all the rage. McDonald’s didn’t want to lag behind, so they came up with their own pizza item, along with other option experimental dishes like grilled cod on French bread.

However, as you can already tell by the absence of pizza on McDonald’s current menu, they completely nixed the menu item. There was one way they could compete with the rising pizza franchise stars, so McDonald’s stuck what it did best: making burgers and fries.
