Pictures from Classic McDonald’s Restaurants from the 80s and 90s

December 6, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

The vinyl reward

In 1998, McDonald’s held a contest where the person who found a lucky vinyl record could win a cool million bucks. They stuck these vinyl records in newspapers, and anyone who found a record with the McDonald’s menu song would win. $1 million is definitely not chump change, especially by 1988’s standards.

Much to the surprise of McDonald’s lovers everywhere, there were several winners of the contest. Sadly, they stopped this promotion after just one go. We think they gave up a bit more money than they initially hoped. If McD’s decides to hold another contest like this, you can bet that it’ll be all over social media.
