Ironic Moments That Are Too Good to Be True

July 13, 2004 by Emma Cooper

This Isn’t a Joke

Childhood obesity is a very serious issue, in the country and around the world, but unfortunately, this ironic billboard makes a mockery out of it. The “don’t take it lightly” part is supposed to be clever, but we find it a bit stale and offensive, but the real issue here is the placement of the two advertisements one above the other.

The first advertisement engages with childhood obesity and encourages people to “not take it lightly” and take action against the health issue, while the sign below features a McDonald’s advertisement. It’s safe to say fast-food is one of the main causes for childhood obesity in the country, so the two ads pretty much contradict one another.
