Da Vinci Bridge
HQ Info
In 1501, Leonardo da Vinci made a sketch of a 787 feet long single span bridge that was to be built over the Golden Horn in Istanbul but it couldn’t be built because it was too advanced for the builders of that time. It finally came to life in 2001, outside of Oslo, Norway at a cost of $1.47m. The glue-laminated wooden bridge, smaller than Leonardo’s original design, is 110m long, 3m wide, has a span of 45m and sits 8m above a major highway.
