Bridging the gap
Bearing in mind how long it would take us to get from Europe to North America by plane, or especially by boat, we would obviously assume that the two continents are pretty far apart.

That’s not necessarily the case. In this photo, the diver is technically touching the two continents at the same time! He’s in the Silfra crack in Iceland. It’s the exact place where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet (or don’t quite meet as you can see.) That’s one dive to write home about!
