Drag Kings & Trans Men – Itching For A Beard
While it’s not very common for queens to keep their beards, drag kings are rarely seen in character without one. It’s the icing on top that seems to pull the whole look and persona together. For both kings and female to male, trans people, the beard is one of the most highly anticipated parts of their transformation.
Trans men take male hormones to induce changes such as deepening the voice, increased muscle mass, and of course, male pattern hair growth on the face and body. Drag kings are unlikely to be in transition as they generally do not identify as men, so their beards are usually fake. Either way, it can be quite striking when the look is topped off with a beard!
