Math is not America’s strong suit
Here’s a quick math question for you. Which is larger, ¼ or 1/3? If you answered 1/3, good for you. You did better than most of those in the 1980s did when they say A&W’s ad for a 1/3-pound burger. The only company in the world that would appreciate bad math is McDonald’s.
In the 1980s, A&W ran an ad campaign promoting its 1/3-pound burger. It was larger and cheaper than McDonald’s quarter pounder. However, thanks to bad math, A&W’s burger failed to sell. Stay in school, kids. Or don’t since that’s where people apparently don’t learn how to understand fractions.
