In August 1981, the Chrisoula K left Italy with a cargo of floor tiles destined for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The ship made safe passage across the Mediterranean Sea through the Suez Canal and was steaming at full speed, when it struck the northeast corner of Sha’ab Abu Nuhas in the Red Sea. The 21 man crew was saved but the ship sunk.
