Which TV Shows Have Been Canceled or Renewed?

March 31, 2022 by Miranda Hill

It’s time for a new year and some changes to the world of television, as what usually happens every time the middle or beginning of a year comes around. With so many shows out there it becomes necessary for some to be canceled or completed as well as more ideas come into fruition as new airings and so on. The reason a show could be canceled is varied, from funding to lack of interest to time consumption and more. But what shows are staying for 2022 and into 2023, and what ones have reached their completion? Well, let’s get into it! Here’s your answer for which TV shows have been canceled or renewed.

Chicago Rolls On

A partnership with NBC continues for the shows Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. which even has inclusions for a guaranteed three more years which is great news for lovers of the universe of these series. NBC was perfectly pleased to sign on for three more years hoping to give the fans more time with the One Chicago universe created by Dick Wolf.

Anatomy Fans Listen!

Grey’s Anatomy has swept the television viewers by storm and also is hosted by multiple streaming platforms to give consumers the medical drama they all have loved. It has been slotted for season 19, which was actually a surprise since the end of the show was called for by Ellen Pompeo due to not having much more to tell of the story. Most suppose its the popularity that made ABC want to continue.

More Renewals

Also on the list for renewals are these fan favorites: Law and Order SVU, The Blacklist, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Abbott Elementary, The Bold and The Beautiful, CSI: Vegas, Ghosts, Survivor, Young Sheldon, Bob’s Burgers, Hell’s Kitchen, Family Guy, Master Chef, The Simpsons, Charmed, Dynasty, Riverdale, The Flash, Outer Banks, Sex Education, You, and so much more. Plenty of fan favorites to pick from have been guaranteed renewal or new seasons!

Bad News Bears

While it’s amazing that so many shows have been added to the continuation list, it’s time for what you all have been waiting for. What shows won’t continue? Well, the list for this is also pretty long and just as differing in topics or genre of series to end. Some are ending since the story is going to be finished telling by the end of the season they’re on, others weren’t able to get renewals, and plenty had other reasons.

Canceled: The List

Here is some of the TV shows that will sadly be finishing up in 2022 or 2023: Maury, This Is Us, Black-ish, Promised Land, The Baby-Sitters Club, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and more. Some will be continuing but onto their last season which are shows like Dead to Me, Manifest, Never Have I Ever, Ozark, Stranger Things, The Crown, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime, Love Victor, His Dark Materials, and a few others. That list will keep playing until the end of their story, then end.

This is a ton of information for those of you reading to absorb and process, especially if there’s bad news for your favorite TV show or series this coming year. And we haven’t even gotten into what options will be coming into airing as others stop and more time is freed on television channels. Hopefully, at least something on this chat about cancellations and renewals was good news for you or your friends and family (don’t forget to share the information with them too so your loved ones can be informed!). Of course, keep an eye out for more information on what beloved TV series will also be continued, ended, or added in the coming times for 2022 and 2023.
