Our past year was definitely a whirlwind of topics, ongoing events and concerns, crises, and more. It also was a year of new shows, movies, and media all over the world. Now that we’re heading into 2022 plenty of us are reviewing our past year as well as learning as much as we can about the past year for the rest of the world too. We’ve discussed, debated, and watched or read plenty of rewinds on topics of the year such as top searches, movies, topics, issues, and television productions. But we’re here today for another one! Here are the top 5 reality shows of 2021.

The Big Day
A reality show revolving around weddings, interesting. The Big Day focuses specifically on the time leading up to and surrounding Indian weddings, which is a multibillion-dollar industry in the country due to how seriously they are taken and how much ritual and show is involved. It also incorporates a lot of thought and talk surrounding traditional values and ceremonies compared to modern day ones and how couples had to navigate getting ready for these factors.
My Unorthodox Life
Julia Haart stars in this Netflix show surrounding her own life and struggle. She moved from Russia to the United States young, and became a part of the community of Orthodox Jews in the U.S.; which is much more difficult than most would expect it to be. The reality show discusses this in a slightly chaotic way and shows a lot of how she attempted to adjust to life outside of Orthodox communities after struggling for so long.

90 Day: The Single Life
For 90 Day Fiancé fans, a new thought comes into the spotlight in a spinoff titled 90 Day: The Single Life. It is returning to the topic of old contestants on the show for a chance at finding love yet again as well as sharing their stories and drama from the past. It brings favorites back that fans loved and watched go and creates an interesting addition to the timeline that caused this show to be one of the top reality TV pieces in 2021.
The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals
Another Netflix show on the list is The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals, which showcases amazing options for traveling all around the world including luxury and less luxury prices. It was loved since so many of us cannot or haven’t traveled due to tight budgets or the pandemic restrictions, and even included different budget allowances for each traveler so that the showcased places weren’t all extremely expensive.
The Challenge: All Stars
We finish off today’s list with another spin off or continuation of an idea. The Challenge was a hit show focused on crazy objectives and stunts with rivaling players and elimination stages until the top players got a large cash prize. This begins the cycle anew with 24 of the show’s veterans coming back for a chance to win $500k, with even harder objectives and physical impacts. It’s great for newbies and returning fans alike, and was one of 2021’s top reality shows.

These may not always line up with what individual viewers may see as the top shows of 2021, especially reality television since so many of us have very different tastes on this type of media, but it is what some of the top ones were according to ranking platforms like IMDb that take in the amount of searches, views, money, and input coming in around each show or movie. There were a lot of options out there to watch the past year. You can share this list of some top reality shows with friends and family or add them to your must watch list!
